Andrew J. Melton

President & CEO

Andrew J. Melton is a respected business and community leader with over three decades of experience in commercial real estate and he was instrumental in the formation of the REIT. He has been a member of Melcor’s board of directors since 1985. Mr. Melton began his career in 1978 with Graeme Young & Associates and retired as a partner from Avison Young, a full-service commercial real estate company, in 2010. 

Naomi Stefura

Chief Financial Officer

Naomi Stefura is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years of experience. She has been Chief Financial Officer of Melcor since August 2016. Ms. Stefura was previously Melcor's Vice President of Finance and, prior to that, Melcor's Controller. Ms. Stefura holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and a Masters of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan.


Brian S. Hunt

Brian S. Hunt is the co-founder, President and Director of Taviston Inc., Talisman Properties Ltd., and 1204 Kensington Road Ltd., which are active private equity investment companies with a focus on the real estate, energy and technology sectors. Previously, Brian held various executive roles at The Westaim Corporation, including Senior Advisor and Executive Vice President. While at Westaim, he also served as interim President of Westaim Biomedical and Westaim Partners, divisions of Westaim Corporation focused on biomedical products and venture capital, respectively. He was also a Director of Savvion, a private Silicon Valley-based software engineering firm. Mr. Hunt was also the co-founder, President and Director of Sebring Energy Inc., and held various roles at both ACTC Technologies and Stewart Green Properties Ltd. Mr. Hunt has also served as a volunteer on various charitable boards and committees including Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, Calgary Regional Health Authority and Calgary Health Trust and is a member of the Law Society of Alberta. Mr. Hunt received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and his Bachelor of Laws and Master of Business Administration from the University of Alberta.

Patrick Kirby

Patrick Kirby is counsel with the law firm Felesky Flynn LLP where he has been a partner since 1984. Mr. Kirby's practice focused on a wide array of tax matters, including purchase and sale of businesses, cross-border transactions and succession planning. Prior to this, he was employed with a large national accounting firm from 1971 to 1979. Mr. Kirby was appointed Queen's Counsel in Alberta in 2000 and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2002. He has previously served on the Boards of several private and public companies. Mr. Kirby received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta.

Donald Lowry

Donald Lowry holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and an MBA from the University of Manitoba. Subsequent to his retirement in March 2013, he is now self-employed as a corporate director. From 1998 to February 2013, he was the CEO of EPCOR Utilities and was previously President and Chief Operating Officer of Telus Communications, and Chairman of Alta Telecom. He currently serves as a director of several Canadian corporations where he has been extensively engaged in compensation policies and human resource matters.

Larry Pollock

Larry Pollock has extensive experience in the governance of public companies and has experience in designing compensation plans as well as reviewing those prepared by external consultants. In his past role as Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Western Bank, Mr. Pollock was responsible for approximately 2,000 employees and the Human Resources department reported directly to him.

He was previously a member of the compensation and governance committees of a number of companies, including WestJet Airlines Ltd. (Chair) and HNZ Group Inc. and EPCOR Utilities Inc. (Chair)

Darin Rayburn

Darin Rayburn has worked in the real estate industry since 1991. He is President & CEO of Melcor Developments Ltd. and was previously CEO of Melcor REIT and Executive Vice President for Melcor, in which capacity he was focused on strategy, acquisitions and the operations of Melcor’s investment property asset portfolio. Mr. Rayburn joined Melcor in 2002 and has grown the investment property portfolio from approximately 600,000 square feet to close to four million square feet in four asset classes throughout western Canada and the United States. Prior to joining Melcor, Mr. Rayburn held various leasing, operations, management and marketing positions with Oxford Properties Group and Cambridge Shopping Centers. Mr. Rayburn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta.

Ralph B. Young

Chair of the Board of Trustees

Ralph B Young was the Chancellor of the University of Alberta from 2012 - 2016 and retired from Melcor Developments Ltd. as Chief Executive Officer in 2013. In his capacity he was responsible for directing the compensation policy for over 100 Melcor Developments employees. Mr. Young received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alberta in 1973. He serves as a director for ZCL Composites and Melcor Developments. He also serves on the Boards of several private and not-for-profit organizations, including the Edmonton Regional Airport Authority.
